WordPress 3.2 – Are you ready?
WordPress 3.2 and your host
WordPress is due to be updated to WordPress 3.2 very shortly, which in itself isn’t major news, after all we seem to update at least on
ce a month. However this release is very different because it will drop all support for PHP 4. If your host isn’t running at least PHP 5.2 then you can expect some massive issues with your sites.
You will need to check if your server is running version 5.2 of PHP at a minimum before updating your sites to WordPress 3.2.
Luckily, I have found a tool which enables you to quickly and easily check which version your hosting company has installed.
To use the script just enter your full site address and hit the tick button. The script will tell you which version of PHP your host has installed and if they need to update it or not.
Before you update your sites to WordPress 3.2 make sure that you check all of your hosting accounts.
Note: I have checked and Hostgator is running PHP version 5.2.14 on my server, which doesn’t need upgrading when WordPress 3.2 is released.

Cheap Hosting Offer – Only $1.99 Month
I’m not a big one for promoting hosting companies. One of the big four is pretty much like any other of the big four. They all offer cpanel, unlimited hosting – although their definition of unlimited is probably a lot different than our definition, it is usually around 50 sites, around the same number of Mysql databases and of course unlimited (that word again!) e-mail addresses.
Within a couple of dollars they are all around the same price as well.
Which is why I wouldn’t bother boring you with an affiliate pitch, thinly disguised as a review for any of these sites. (Although please feel free to click on the hostgator link at the bottom of this page if you are feeling generous
)
So, we’ve established that I need to find something special before I would consider writing about it… Well, I think I have found just the thing. Read the rest of this entry »
