Backlinks Experiment

Linkwheel

Let’s face it, if we bought all of the tools that were available to create backlinks for our sites we would a) run out of money pretty quickly and b) spend that much time operating the various packages that we would have no time at all left to build new sites and create our Internet Marketing Empire!

So I decided to run a little experiment to discover if all that time was indeed time well spent.

My aim is to run various backlinking tools and then simply count up the links that each tool generates.

I’ve set-up a fresh blog on a new domain which wasn’t previously indexed and has no links pointing towards it.

I’m not going to reveal the name of the blog as any links created by you guys would throw off the results.

Next I set up a new page for each of the platforms and submitted the relevant post URL to that platform.

To make the results relevant I have limited the experiment to no-cost or low cost platforms only.

They are:

Free Traffic Systems – Free traffic Systems is an article and blog post distribution service, similar to Article Underground and SEOLinkvine. The main difference is that Free Traffic System operates both a free and a paid service. For the purposes of this experiment I am using the free service. As you get two links per article and that spun article is distributed to 30 blogs there will potentially be 60 backlinks from this source. I reviewed Free Traffic Systems a few months ago, you can read the review here.

Backlinker Pro – This is a simple little script which posts your URL to whois and DNS statistic web sites. The latest version, which incorporates all of the Backlinker Pro 2 features submits to over 31000 sites and also pings your site as well. However, I am currently running with an older version which submits to 5328 sites.

Backlinker Pro 2 – From the same stable as Backlinker Pro but with added features. Most notable of which is the ability to include a blog title and an RSS feed. The version I have submits to 2649 sites.

Backlinker Pro RSS Submitter – The RSS submitter function of Backlinker Pro 2.

BacklinksMagic article submitter – When you install Magic Article Submitter it’s engine will go to work and create 100’s of article directory accounts for you automatically in a matter of a few minutes. Once each account is created, MAS will then go to work for you verifying each account through the email address you provide so you don’t have to. It will then take a spun article and submit a unique version to each of around 700 article directories. I submitted this experiment to around 468 directories. (Note – the author of this program Alexander Krulik offers a good discount when it is bundled with it’s sister program Magic Article ReWriter

IMAutomator – This is a relativey new service which will submit your URL to a number of social bookmarking sites. There are two versions, free and paid, with the free version submitting to 15 sites. You have the option to post the links all in one go, one a day or one ever three days. There is a potential for 15 backlinks from this site. The paid version allows submission to 45 bookmarking sites with an increased submission rate of 25 URL’s per day over the 10 URL’s you can submit per day with the free version. The Pro version also allows submission of RSS feeds.

Ping-O-Matic – This is a free service which will ping your website and submit your RSS feed to a number of different sites. For this experiment I have submitted the specific page RSS created by RSS Bomber.

RapIndex Software – this isn’t strictly an application for getting backlinks, but rather a simple program to get new sites indexed almost immediately. It does this by submitting your URL to various sites which Google seems to monitor almost constantly. As a rapid indexing tool it is brilliant, however, I am interested to see if any of the links stick. If you like the software then there is a ‘Donate’ button where you can show the author your appreciation.

and

RSSBot – this is another great program from Incansoft who have a reputation of creating rock-solid software at affordable prices (That sounded a bit salesy didn’t it? But I’m not an Incansoft affiliate, I just love their software!) Anyway. This program takes your RSS feed and submits it to a wedge of RSS directories.

RSS Feed submission is one of the most basic methods of generatingBacklink Tool continuous traffic to your websites and blogs and it is simple to do.

For RSSBot and Ping-O-Matic I created an individual RSS feed for each page using the brilliant RSS Bomber and submitted that feed.

I will check in regularly and count up the backlinks to each page using SEOQuake and report any findings here on NetBenefits.

As a matter of interest, the first backlink to the site came within 24 hours from an article submitted via Magic article submitter.

If you know of any mass auto-backlink tools please let me know (and where I can get it) and I will add it to the experiment. I will draw a line under each tool exactly three months after the experiment starts.

    Hi Rob,

welcome to NetBenefits. I must admit to being a fan of BLP because it is soooo simple to use. I tend to drop a url in just before bed than leave it doing its thing overnight. Great software. Thanks

Hey Dave, it was good to find you, I did a search for links to backlinker professional. I’m glad you like my software. It’s best for boosting sites with the keyword phrase in the url. If your page is structured that way, it is easy to get on page 1 of google for a broad search.

I’ve discovered that the high PR links don’t tend to stick, but if you can be found easily on google for your keyword phrase…does that really matter. Take a look at this google query:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=blogger+squeeze+page

No #1 out of 406000 results

Thanks again for taking the time to look at my software :)

I also use Directory Maximizer $.16 / submission seems a little high compared to other services, but I have been using them for about a year and always see a very high success rate and a large number of the submissions are indexed. In the end I’d rather pay more for links that matter instead of paying for mass submissions that don’t do anything.

I’ve heard lots of good things about Adbrite, but haven’t used them yet myself. I may try them out on one of my other sites. Thanks for the tip.
